90Sr in 10-20 L via 90Y beta measurements
| Sample Type | Water |

| Elements | Sr |
| Radioisotopes | 90Sr |
| Detection by | beta | Description | This method describes the radiochemistry of seawater to analyze 90Sr through the detection of its daughter 90Y using beta counting. 20 L of seawater sample are pre-concentrated with iron hydroxide precipitates. This method needs to be done relatively quickly not to let 90Y (T1/2=64 hours) decay once it is separated from 90Sr. Chemical recovery is monitored with stable Y throughout the process. |
