Thank you for this interesting poster which once again demonstrates the interest of radionuclides as tracers of water masses. Is the speed of 4.8Cm.year-1 is something that you expected?

In short yes. It is faster than the mean western basin 3 cm s-1 reported by Oka et al. (2011) and slower than the average western basin advection speed of 8.5 cm s-1 at 40°N reported by Inomata et al., 2018. However, it is similar to the estimates reported by Inomata et al., 2018 at 40°N east of 160°W, Kumamoto et al. (2019) for the 137Cs export from the western basin in 2011, as well as Yoshida et al. (2015) and Aoyama et al., (2016a) who examined the signal speed at 30°N.
